Kingston, Jamaica – April 9, 2025 – The Private Sector Organisation of Jamaica, (PSOJ), has announced The Honourable Don Wehby, former government Senator and Group Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of GraceKennedy Limited, as the 31st inductee into its prestigious Hall of Fame. This honour celebrates his remarkable contributions to Jamaica’s private sector and to nation building. A dynamic leader, Wehby is known to be decisive, strategic and intentional, whilst still unassuming and unpretentious. Described by his peers as a man of unwavering integrity, with electric energy and a keen sense of humour, he is also a devoted family man, with a deep commitment to the development of Jamaica’s youth.

During his tenure, Wehby repositioned GraceKennedy Limited as an international company with Jamaican roots. His visionary approach was marked by a relentless and results-oriented drive for innovation and growth. Under his stewardship, GraceKennedy’s revenue nearly tripled, from J$58 billion in 2011 to J$167 billion in 2024. His strategic vision and expertise in mergers and acquisitions ushered the expansion of GraceKennedy’s operations in the Caribbean, North America, Europe, and the United Kingdom. Wehby recognised opportunities in crisis, turning challenges into stepping stones for growth and increased efficiency.

Wehby’s dedication to empowering communities has been a hallmark of his leadership, reflecting his belief that business success must be accompanied by social responsibility. As Group CEO of GraceKennedy, he spearheaded countless initiatives that supported education, youth development and delivered relief to those in need during crises such as the COVID-19 pandemic. He played a pivotal role in the expansion and brand alignment of the ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys’ and Girls’ Athletic Championships, showcasing his ability to merge business acumen with national development initiatives. His passion for sports, particularly cricket, reflects his competitive spirit and appreciation for teamwork. In recognition of his outstanding contributions to youth and sports development, The PSOJ’s 31st Hall of Fame Inductee is also the recipient of a Lifetime Achievement Award.

One of Wehby’s defining traits is his selflessness and commitment to nation building. Over the years, he has served the PSOJ as Vice President, Honorary Treasurer and a member of its Economic Policy Committee. Further, in 2007, he resigned from his positions at GraceKennedy to serve as Minister without portfolio in the Ministry of Finance and the Public Service. He returned to GraceKennedy two
years later, and became Group CEO in 2011, a role which he held until February of this year. When called upon in 2016 and 2020 by Prime Minister Andrew Holness, Wehby, being a true Statesman, graciously returned to public service to serve in the capacity of an independent, non-aligned Senator. Don Wehby’s sterling contribution to Jamaica’s public and private sector earned him the Order of Distinction (Commander Class) in 2017 and the highest recognition in Jamaica, the Order of Jamaica (OJ) in 2024.

As he joins the ranks of Jamaica’s most distinguished business leaders, Don Wehby’s legacy continues to inspire a new generation of entrepreneurs and leaders for generations to come.
Wehby’s induction is slated for October 30, 2025 at PSOJ’s 31st Hall of Fame Banquet. For ticket information, please contact marketing@psoj.org or call (876) 927-6238.
