The Private Sector Organisation of Jamaica (PSOJ) through its Corporate Governance Committee, has been at the forefront of promulgating Corporate Governance best practices in Jamaica, and launched in February 2016, the first MSME Corporate Governance Code for Jamaica and the Caribbean. The revised version was again launched in February 2021.  This Code recognizes that MSMEs are all at different stages of development and so provides a progressive approach to the implementation of corporate governance practices for MSMEs.

In addition, as part of our ongoing efforts to enhance the capabilities of our business community, we launched an extensive revision of the PSOJ Corporate Governance Toolkit which is now available on our website and in hard copy on request.  This toolkit is also designed to equip business leaders with the essential skills and knowledge needed to implement the best practices.

In this regard, the PSOJ will be presenting a series of Corporate Governance webinars focussed on ‘What Every CEO, Director & Corporate Secretary Should Know!’. Prior to COVID-19 the programme ran for one straight day, however, to satisfy the needs of entrepreneurs who found it difficult to leave their businesses for a full day, the PSOJ pivoted and presented instead this Unlock Success! A three-part webinar series for Business Sustainability.  The programme seeks to support entities that would achieve high growth and competitiveness through the implementation of best-in-class corporate governance practices.

The webinar series promises to be insightful and packed with governance information which businesses can use as a reference and framework for developing an appropriate corporate governance system for their entity.  It will also provide entities with information to facilitate listing on the Jamaica Stock Exchange.

This series of Corporate Governance Webinars will be focussed on extending our reach in Jamaica and is scheduled for May 1, 6 & 7, 2025.  The cost of training will be $22,000.00 per member participant and $25,000 per non-member.
